You heard it right folks, FireCore released a new updated version of Seas0nPass which is compatible with the new iOS 5.1 software for the Apple TV. This new utility will allow people with an Apple TV 2nd generation, to update to iOS 5.0 (iOS 5.1) and maintain their jailbreak. For those who already upgraded to iOS 5.1 well lets welcome the jailbreak back into our lives!Right now, the jailbreak is tethered — signifying that you’ll need to connect the ATV to a Mac or PC anytime you want to restart it. Since it is the Apple TV, this isn’t as big of a concern since you rarely have it powered off.
Not like other iOS 5.1 devices, this update to the ATV includes a whole new assortment of features. Some of the new features that are included are the new icon-based user interface, support for iCloud movie playback, and screensaver photos.
However, the new version of Seas0nPass is not compatible with the third-generation Apple TV. FireCore did not even state that they are currently working on a jailbreak for the ATV 3.
A quick-note for those going ahead with the jailbreak, not all the jailbreak apps are currently working on iOS 5.0 (5.1). Here is a list of those that are working and the ones that are not from the FireCore blog.
